Tom Landry and Ashley Lekov of TheHotSpotGuide.com know exactly how hard it is to manage a 100% free online dating service. They created their free online dating service on October 2007 they had no idea how ruthless and competitive the free online dating industry was. Tom Landry and Ashley Lekov thought if they hosted innovative features and all dating services for free they would become a success on the internet, little did they know that all of the other free dating entrepreneurs had the same idea.

“We couldnt believe how many people do this for a living.” Ashley says.

“This is a major crime and should be handled appropriately by the authorities.” Toms says.

While hosting new services and monitoring spam these two hard working entrepreneurs continuously optimize their free online dating site.

“This is the most mind-numbing process of all.” Tom claims.

“Yes, at first we had not a clue where to start.” Ashley agrees.

Irish green builder Viking House has been awarded Passivhaus Institute certification for its foundation system. Speaking to Construct Ireland, Viking House’s Seamus O’Loughlin said that the system, which has an Irish patent, has been used on about ten building projects to date.

O’Loughin told Construct Ireland that the system eliminates cold brides and can deliver a U-Value of 0.107 W/m2k. “The house sits on a reinforced insulated ring beam with an insulated upstand dividing the ring beam and the concrete floor”. “Swedish tests show that 65 percent of the heat from underfloor heating is lost to the ground when a standard Irish foundation system is used. Our system reduces this to 17 percent.”

Viking House’s system is available in two constructions one for timber frame buildings and another suitable for heavier block buildings. O’Loughlin said that cold bridging often negatively affects the U-Value of traditional foundation systems. “we calculated the heat loss from traditional Irish foundations using DEAP. The floor was designed to have a U-Value of 0.25 W/m2k but when the cold bridging at the perimeter walls and where the internal walls sit directly on the ground were added, the real U-Value jumped up to 0.47 W/m2k. When we calculate the heat loss at the front and the rear door threshold and where the chimneys sit directly on the ground the actual U-value went up over 0.6 W/m2k.”

“Irish houses tested with our thermal imaging camera showed up red around foundation level due to major heat loss at this point.” “When building a passive house its important to start with good foundations. There is a cold bridge in most Irish Houses where the foundations meet the walls because there is a break in the insulation and the inside block sits directly on the top of cold foundations causing major heat loss. If we built a passive house on top of standard Irish foundations most of the heat loss would occur at this point.”
